Men's crochet beanie

Here is another hat pattern for you crafts people out there. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, and even though this pattern is labeled as a men's beanie I think it is really cute.

Well here is the pattern

Notes: ch 3 = 1 dc st

Making the Crown (top of beanie)

ch 5, sl st into 1st ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: ch 3, (working over yarn tail) 15 dc into ring, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (16 sts)

Rnd 2: ch 3, * 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, rep from * around to the last st, 2 dc into last st, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (24 sts)

Rnd 3: ch 3, * 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of next 2 sts, rep from * around to the last 2 sts, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into next st, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (32 sts)

Rnd 4: ch 3, * 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of next 3 sts, rep from * around to the last 3 sts, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of next 2 sts, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (40 sts)

Rnd 5: ch 3, * 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of next 4 sts, rep from * around to the last 4 sts, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of the next 3 sts, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (48 sts)

Rnd 6: ch 3, * 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of next 5 sts, rep from * around to the last 5 sts, 2 dc into next st, 1 dc into each of the next 4 sts, sl st into top of ch-3 to join. (56 sts)

Making the Sides

Rnd 7: ch 3, 1 dc into each st around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join.

Rnds 8 - 13: Rep Rnd 7.

If you want a longer beanie, rep rnd 7 a few more times.

If you don't want the cuff, finish off here and weave in yarn tails with a yarn needle.

Making the Cuff

Turn your work so you are working in the opposite direction.

Rnd 14: ch 3, FPdc around post of next dc, * BPdc around post of next dc, FPdc around post of next dc, rep from * around to the end, sl st into top of ch-3 to join.

Rnds 15 - 16: Rep Rnd 14.

Finish off. Weave in yarn tails with a yarn needle.
